A B O U T
My hooked rugs have naturally evolved from a life-long passion for fabrics and textiles. Having done a variety of needle crafts from knitting to weaving, I have found that rug hooking combines my love of surface design, color and texture, allowing me to “paint” with fabric. It seems to be a perfect way to combine hands-on technique, precision, design, color choice, and ultimately the satisfaction of carrying away a functional object.
I received my undergraduate degree in Costume Design, Clothing and Textiles and a master’s degree in Clothing and Human Behavior. I have worked as a costume shop manager, pattern maker, stitcher, colorist, fabric printer, curator of exhibits, and research assistant. I continue to freelance designing costumes for dance and theatre nationally and internationally working out of my studio at home in Florence, Massachusetts. I am continually inspired by life and nature around me as well as by the many travels I have had.
